Manchester United look finally set to sign a long-term wing target as part of a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez, while Leeds target Edinson Cavani is close to announcing his next club, according to Monday’s transfer gossip.
SOLSKJAER PONDERS IVAN PERISIC OFFER
Inter Milan could offer midfielder Ivan Perisic to Manchester United in a bid to keep Alexis Sanchez permanently.
Sanchez joined Inter on loan last summer and took his time to settle at the San Siro. But improved form of late has seen Sanchez convince Antonio Conte he is now worthy of a permanent deal.
The Chilean has scored four times and laid on nine assists – form which has also endeared him to the Inter fans.
While Inter are seeking his permanent transfer, the £18m fee United are seeking is proving a sticking point.
But Inter want the deal wrapped up ahead of the resumption of the Europa League next month. Under the terms of his loan, he is ineligible to feature.
To help facilitate the possible transfer, the Daily Mail claims Inter will offer United the chance to sign former wing target Perisic as part of the deal.
Perisic was a long-term target of former boss Jose Mourinho, who narrowly missed out on his signature in 2018.
Despite helping Bayern Munich retain the Bundesliga title this season, they do not want to make it permanent. That has left Perisic with big doubts over his future. But a resolution could be at hand were United to take him on.
As per the reports, a straight swap could be orchestrated between the two clubs. Perisic would unlikely be first choice in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. But signing a player of his quality could give them much-needed strength in depth ahead of a Champions League campaign.
Perisic has scored four times and set up six goals in his 22 league appearances for Bayern this season. He is said to be open to a move to United were Solskjaer agree to the potential swap.
