A frozen-out Manchester United star is wanted in a move across the continent, while Aston Villa eye a Championship playmaker – all in the latest Paper Talk.

LINGARD WANTED ACROSS EUROPE

Inter are keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard on loan this month, according to a report.

The 28-year-old‘s career has stalled in recent seasons and he has been linked with a move out of Old Trafford.

Indeed, after playing at the 2018 World Cup with England, his chances have diminished under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Previous reports have claimed that West Ham are a keen admirer of the midfielder. According to the Sunday Mirror, though, Lingard has interest from Italy.

Inter boss Antonio Conte has reportedly received glowing reports about Lingard from former United duo Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young.

As such, they have convinced the manager to swoop. But a deal will only be possible if Inter can offload Christian Eriksen on loan, the newspaper adds.

Eriksen supposedly has interest from West Ham, Ajax and Wolves. However, his agent is in the midst of wrangle with the Serie A giants over payment he should have received when his client left Tottenham last January.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta recently said of the Denmark international’s potential exit: “He’s had a few issues to adjusting to life at Inter and he’s not functional to the team.

“But that takes nothing away from his professionalism. It’s only right to give him a chance to seek more games elsewhere. Obviously we need to find a solution.”

Meanwhile, a move across Europe for Lingard would be transformative, given that he has only played three times in all competitions this term.
