Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the chase for a prolific RB Salzburg attacker, while Leeds and Villa want an Arsenal ace, according to Sunday’s transfer gossip.

MAN UTD JOIN RACE FOR £20M SALZBURG HOTSHOT

Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool in lining up a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka.

The 21-year-old Zambia international impressed as he scored twice for the Austrian side in their 2-2 draw with Jurgen Klopp’s men in a friendly on Tuesday.

And now The Sun claims that the Red Devils have joined the Anfield outfit and several other big clubs in tracking him.

Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league games as Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga title for the seventh year in a row in 2019/20.

That title came despite selling major United target Erling Haaland to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Daka is the latest player off an impressive Salzburg production line, which also includes Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino.

He also faced Liverpool in the Champions League last season, after which the Reds decided to purchase Minamino.

But the report adds United would offer serious competition to their rivals if Daka is sold.

However, they would have to pay in excess of £20m, after the forward signed a new deal until 2024 last year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does have other strike targets, including Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, but Daka would come significantly cheaper.

That would also allow the Red Devils chief to allocate the rest of his transfer budget to other targets, including the likes of Jack Grealish and a potential – if unlikely- mega deal for Lionel Messi.
