Paper Talk: Man Utd to swoop as Juventus prepare to axe star

Manchester United are being tipped to land a Juventus star on a free transfer, while Chelsea are prepared to let a star leave in order to seal the signing of a new keeper, according to Thursday’s paper gossip.

UNITED TO MOVE FOR GERMANY STAR

Manchester United could land Sami Khedira on a free transfer, according to reports.

The 33-year-old midfielder is set to have his contract terminated at Juventus a year early.

He is not part of new boss Andrea Pirlo’s plans at the Allianz Stadium this season, according to a report in The Sun.

Khedira suffered an injury-plagued campaign last season, having knee surgery in December and a torn abductor later on.

That limited the Germany international to just 18 appearances across all competitions.

Juventus are keen to cut costs across the club and the report adds they could save around £5.5million this season by terminating Khedira’s current deal.

The Turin giants have also brought in both Arthur from Barcelona and American star Weston McKennie to bolster the midfield.

And it means after five years with Juve, Khedira could be on his way out.

However, it remains unclear where the former Real Madrid star will go next.

United have previously been linked, and did make a deadline-day attempt to land him during his Bernabeu days.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still said to be looking to bring in another midfielder, despite landing Donny van de Beek from Ajax this summer.

And if Khedira could be brought in on a modest salary, he could bring more experience and leadership to a relatively young United squad.
