Paper Talk: Man Utd transfer gripe rears its head again, as teenage star eyed as solution

Manchester United have made bolstering a key position they did not in the summer a January priority, while Roma eye a Tottenham target – both in all the latest Paper Talk.

MAN UTD FIND TRANSFER PRIORITY

Manchester United have identified two targets as their desire to sign a right-back comes to the fore again ahead of the January transfer window, a report claims.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought in Aaron Wan-Bissaka as one of his first signings at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Indeed, he has made 108 appearances for the Red Devils since his move from Crystal Palace in 2019.

However, reports have revealed concerns from Solskjaer that while Wan-Bissaka is one of the best defensive right-backs in the Premier League, he could improve his attacking contributions.

As such, United tried – and failed – to sign Atletico Madrid’s England international Kieran Trippier as competition this summer. Instead, their focus went on signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United have been urged to move for PSG's Marco Verratti by former winger Ashley Young, with more updates on Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier, and midfielder Paul Pogba.

Still, 90min has now revealed that right-back is a United priority again ahead of January. Furthermore, Rangers’ Nathan Patterson and Norwich’s Max Aarons are on their radar.

Norwich man Aarons has impressed in his Premier League spells with the Canaries and the England Under-21 international has had previous links with Tottenham.

Patterson, 19, meanwhile, was the subject of a bid from Everton in the summer window. The Rangers star only broke into Steven Gerrard’s team in 2020, but has gained significant interest.

He also made his senior Scotland debut in June before putting in a cameo appearance at Euro 2020.

While Aarons and Patterson feature on United’s radar, they are still keeping tabs on Trippier’s situation.
