Transfer Gossip: Tottenham rocked by shock Chelsea approach for summer signing with Blues star offered in swap; Newcastle chasing two new forwards

Chelsea are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve with a move for a summer signing who has underdelivered this season, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip claims Newcastle are chasing two new forwards after Chris Wood’s move to Nottingham Forest.

POTTER WANTS BISSOUMA REUNION

Chelsea are reportedly looking to continue their January transfer splurge with a surprise raid on London rivals Tottenham and a swap proposal on the cards.

The Blues have made former Spurs youngster Noni Madueke their latest January signing in a deal that could end up being worth £29million.

However, after having a proposal to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo rebuffed, the Telegraph’s Matt Law claims Graham Potter now wants to be reunited with Yves Bissouma at Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old has had a massively disappointing first season in north London after his summer switch from the Seagulls.

Bissouma was expected to be a big player for Spurs after becoming one of the best midfielders in England over the past two seasons.

However, he’s looked a shadow of the player who excelled on the south coast. And that is why Potter is hoping to strike, having previously gotten the best out of the Mali international.

The Telegraph report states Chelsea are willing to offer Hakim Ziyech to Spurs in a swap for Bissouma.

Tottenham unlikely to give up on Bissouma just yet

Ziyech has previously been a target for Antonio Conte, but it’s unlikely that Tottenham will want to admit defeat with Bissouma just yet.

They will be hoping that the outstanding midfielder has just failed to adapt to his move and that he will eventually come good.

As for Chelsea, they view Bissouma as the perfect replacement for club stalwart N’Golo Kante.

The French midfielder and Italy star Jorginho are both being tipped to quit the Blues this summer.

That will leave a big whole in Potter’s engine room and it appears that the Chelsea boss wants Bissouma to fill it.

NEWCASTLE EYEING DOUBLE SWOOP

Newcastle are reportedly considering a fresh move for Everton forward Anthony Gordon as well as bidding for Flamengo teenager Matheus Franca.

With Chris Wood joining Nottingham Forest on loan with an obligation to buy for £15million, the Magpies have now offered £13.5m to Flamengo for Brazil Under-20s international forward Franca, 18, and have revived interest in Gordon.

Everton need to sell to move forward in the market and bring in new attacking talent and have already fielded enquiries for Gordon from Tottenham and Chelsea.

However, their £50m plus valuation has so far put off any suitors, although Newcastle could strike at that price.

Gordon was targeted by angry Toffees fans last week, and with Everton desperate to bolster their squad they may be tempted to cash in on Gordon.

As for Franca, the talented Brazilian could be bound for St James’ Park, if Flamengo can seal a loan move for Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri.

LEICESTER TARGET CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRE-BACK

Leicester City are reportedly ready to make another defensive move as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his squad further before the January window shuts.

The Foxes are close to snapping up left-back Victor Kristiansen deal from Copenhagen in a £17million deal.

However, Gianluca Dimarzio claims they are also after Stoke’s Australian centre-back Harry Souttar.

Dimarzio claims Leicester have already had an offer of around £10m knocked back but that talks are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Rodgers is also looking at new attacking options, with Brazilian winger Tete also on his radar.
