Transfer Gossip: Tottenham plotting shock blockbuster raid for Man Utd contract rebel; PSG hit several stumbling blocks in chase for key Arsenal man

David De Gea, Marcus Rashford celebrate Manchester United win

Tottenham are considering a move for a top Manchester United star currently in a contract dispute with the club, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip also rules out a PSG swoop for a key Arsenal defender and Manchester City have opened the bidding for a young central defender.

SPURS WEIGHING UP SHOCK DE GEA SWOOP

Tottenham are reportedly plotting a shock raid on Manchester United for David De Gea this summer.

Reports on Friday emerged that Spurs will push for the 32-year-old’s signature as they look to replace club veteran Hugo Lloris in north London.

The 36-year-old’s contract still has more than a year to run but numerous errors this season have led to speculation that he could be offloaded this summer.

In turn, that has led to the club already beginning their search for a new No.1, with Jordan Pickford, David Raya, Dean Henderson and Diogo Costa all in the running for the job.

However, it appears that De Gea is now also on their radar, given his current contract status.

The Spaniard has kept 18 clean sheets in 42 appearances for United this season after a difficult first half of the campaign.

De Gea‘s current contract ends in the summer but there is the option to extend it by another 12 months.

However, the club want him to lower his wages before they agree to a new deal. But if he doesn’t then there is a strong chance he could be on his way.

To that end, many clubs are monitoring his situation and now it appears that Tottenham are also in that mix.

Lloris, meanwhile, could make a return to the Spurs bench from injury when they head to Everton on Monday night.

PSG UNLIKELY TO SIGN SALIBA, FOR NOW

PSG are likely to keep on monitoring Arsenal defender William Saliba in the near future. However, French football Jonathan Johnson has revealed that a transfer would be complicated for a variety of reasons.

Saliba has become a key member of Mikel Arteta’s team this season, forming a superb partnership with Gabriel at the back as the Gunners push for their first Premier League title since 2004.

Johnson explained to Caught Offside that Saliba actually grew up in a similar part of Paris to Kylian Mbappe, leading to an obvious connection. However, he expects the 22-year-old to remain in north London for now.

He said: “I’m aware there’s been some talk of PSG having a long-standing interest in William Saliba, and it makes sense that he’s someone they’re likely to keep an eye on, but it’s looking highly likely that his immediate future lies at Arsenal.

“Saliba obviously has Parisian roots, he comes from Bondy, the same place as Kylian Mbappe, so that will appeal to the French champions. However, one complicating factor with Saliba that shouldn’t be underestimated is that loan spell with Marseille that he had – a very succcessful one at that, and I think that will stay fresh in the memories of some PSG fans.

“I think PSG, like a lot of top teams, will keep a close eye on Saliba, and see if an opportunity comes up, but given the amount of money it would now take to prise him away from an Arsenal side who could be on the verge of winning the Premier League title, it seems unlikely to me at this moment in time.”

MAN CITY OPEN BIDDING FOR SPLIT STAR

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly opened the bidding for highly-rated Hajduk Split defender Luka Vuskovic, despite his club being in no rush to close out a deal.

Luka Vuskovic Hajduk Split

The 16-year-old centre-half is contracted to Hajduk until 2026 but they are expected to agree a sale at some point this summer.

90mins reports that City are the first team to make an approach, proposing a deal worth up to €12m.

But Hajduk believe they can fetch a higher fee and are not ready to agree a sale until that figure is met. Indeed, it’s believed that €15m is a more realistic valuation.

City are not the only Premier League club showing an interest in the teenager, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham also keen.

Vuskovic also has suitors from across Europe, with PSG, Lyon, Benfica, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund keen on landing the starlet.

It’s claimed, however, that only City and PSG have so far made an offer for the defender.

Vuskovic has already made his first-team debut for Hajduk and is now a regular in the senior setup.

However, the report adds that Hajduk would prefer a deal that would see him remain with them for at least one more season, something that also appeals to Vuskovic.
