West Ham hope to sign an Arsenal striker as a replacement for Sebastien Haller, while an unhappy Chelsea man is ready to push for a transfer amid reported interest from Leeds and Newcastle, according to Saturday’s transfer gossip.

EDDIE NKETIAH WANTED BY WEST HAM

West Ham are targeting Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah as a potential replacement for Sebastien Haller.

The Hammers sold French striker Haller to Ajax this week for £20.2m – and now need a replacement in attack.

Reports on Friday claimed Olivier Giroud, Graziano Pelle and Joshua King are on their shortlist. Former striker Marko Arnautovic is also thought to under consideration.

However, the London Evening Standard and the Guardian both claim it is Nketiah, who tops David Moyes’ wanted list.

The 21-year-old is in his final 18 months of his contract at Emirates Stadium and the Hammers think he could be lured away.

Indeed, the papers claim West Ham have asked Arsenal about a possible deal.

However, the Hammers have reportedly been quoted a fee of around £25m – £30m to sign the prolific England U21 striker.

That price is more than West Ham expected to hear. However, the Gunners reckon the £23.5m that Sheffield United paid for Rhian Brewster in the summer acts as a decent measure. Brewster had yet to play in the Premier League when he made the move to the Blades.

Nketiah, by contrast, has 33 Premier League appearances under his belt. He’s also netted 12 goals in all competitions for the Gunners.

The report claims Arsenal may consider loaning Nketiah out instead – and that deal could work as a stop-gap for West Ham.

Furthermore, the Standard reports that the exit of Nketiah could afford more first-team chances for Folarin Balogun and help persuade him to stay.
