Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool have Bayern defender on Jan target list

David Alaba TEAMtalk

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a Bayern Munich defender in his sights in January, while a team-mate of Kylian Mbappe’s thinks he is on his way out of PSG, all today’s Euro paper talk.

LIVERPOOL CHASE ALABA

Liverpool have Bayern Munich defender David Alaba on their target list, claims a report.

The left or right wing-back might not be the centre-back that Jurgen Klopp desperately needs, but he is in Klopp’s thinking.

Football Insider reports that Alaba is “on the target list of Liverpool”, just as his former team-mate Thiago Alcantara was.

The report claims he can play anywhere in defence and midfield, but the 28-year-old is primarily a wing-back.

The door has apparently opened for Liverpool to make a January swoop for the Bayern Munich man due to his contract situation.

The Austria international is out of contract next summer and can leave on a free transfer at that point or sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.

Respected Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk says that the latest round of talks over a new deal failed to secure an agreement.

Alaba almost left Bavaria in the summer, but now he looks set on ending his 10-year spell with the Bundesliga champions.
