Paper Talk: Chelsea to pay premium for Getafe star in £200m splurge

Marc Cucurella TEAMtalk

Chelsea will spend £200m this summer and have a new left-back target in their sights, while Barcelona will go hard after Bernardo Silva this summer, all in the papers.

Chelsea will reportedly spend £200m during this summer’s transfer window in addition to the money already spent on deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Frank Lampard has already landed Ziyech and Werner, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz continues to be heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

According to The Mirror, Lampard wants at least three more signings this summer after a blank summer in 2019 due to the club’s transfer window embargo.

The report claims Ben Chilwell and West Ham United’s Declan Rice are the priorities alongside Havertz.

However, Leicester are playing hardball with Chilwell and the Daily Mail claims Getafe defender Marc Cucurella is on their radar.

The defender has only recently signed for Getafe on a permanent basis from Barcelona.

Cucurella cost Getafe less than £6m and a buy-back option was not included in his deal to join them full-time.

It seems Chelsea have been impressed by Cucurella, who is now valued at £22m. But the Mail claim they would be prepared to spend double that to land the player.
