Antonio Rudiger TEAMtalk

Jurgen Klopp’s search for a new Liverpool centre-back has taken him to Chelsea, while Manchester United have a 70m bid on the table for a centre-back, all in the papers.

LIVERPOOL CHASE RUDIGER

Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, according to a report from Spain.

Mundo Deportivo’s live transfer rumours section, claims Jurgen Klopp has taken an interest in the unwanted centre-back.

The Reds apparently are one of the teams that have “shown more interest” in recruiting the 27-year-old.

Klopp is of course looking for a new defender after the sale of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.

Klopp has already added left-back Kostas Tsimikas to his squad, but he also wants another centre-back.

There is a huge question mark over Rudiger’s future at Chelsea with no new contract in site for the defender.

The Daily Mail claim there is “little movement in terms of a new deal for the Germany international”.

The centre-back has made 19 Premier League starts this season under Frank Lampard with the Blues boss rotating his centre-backs.

But Lampard is believed to be ready to make Rudiger available for transfer and Klopp is keen.
