Liverpool have been offered an experienced centre-back to solve their defensive shortage, while Man Utd want a new right-back and have been linked with an Argentine sensation, all in the papers.

Veteran centre-back Ezequiel Garay has been offered to Liverpool and Barcelona, claims a report in Spain.

The 34-year-old defender is a free agent, who hasn’t played since suffering a cruciate injury with Valencia in February.

Garay agreed to terminate his contract in February to allow Valencia to bring in cover. He is yet to find a new club but he would represent a decent short-term option for the Reds.

Liverpool and Barca are desperate for new recruits and Sport reports that both are tempted to sign Garay.

The experienced Argentine defender has played for the likes of Real Madrid and Benfica and could fit the bill for both clubs.

Jurgen Klopp will haveVirgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez missing for the season, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is also missing.

Barcelona meanwhile are missing Gerard Pique for a number of months, with Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araujo also on the sidelines.
