Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has ruled out the possibility of his side making a move for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
Reports claimed French midfielder Guendouzi could be the subject of a swap offer for Julian Draxler.
The move would see Guendouzi move back to the club at which he began his youth career.
Speaking to Canal + (via the Metro), however, Tuchel said when asked about the chances of a move: “No, that will not happen.”
Guendouzi is allegedly one of several players on the Arsenal transfer list this transfer window. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is keen to offload first-team talent to pave the way for new signings.
In the 21-year-old’s case, he has not played since June, when he grabbed Brighton striker Neal Maupay’s throat.
After that, Arteta reportedly forced him to train on his own at London Colney, despite avoiding an FA ban.
More recently, though, Arteta has insisted that he will give all his players a clean slate to prove their worth.
He said: “Everybody starts from zero in football. What you did two weeks ago doesn’t matter. Everyone will have the same opportunities.”
Pressed on whether he spoke to the midfielder during pre-season, Arteta added: “Yes. He deserves to be treated exactly the same as the others.”
Further reports claim Arsenal are keen to bring in rising star Houssem Aouar from Lyon. The 22-year-old impressed throughout in his side’s Champions League campaign last term.
TUCHEL OPTIMISM FOR NEW PSG SIGNING
Tuchel, meanwhile, was speaking after PSG began their Ligue 1 campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Lens on Thursday.
In the same interview, he revealed he was “optimistic” for incoming signing Alessandro Florenzi.
Reports claim PSG have agreed a deal for the Roma full-back on a loan deal, with an option to buy.
Indeed, speculation claims that the move could end the French club’s hunt for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.
