Manchester United are reportedly prepared to allow on-loan full-back Diogo Dalot to leave in the summer, with two replacements already lined up.
The 21-year-old joined the Red Devils during Jose Mourinho’s reign back in 2018.
Despite being lauded upon his arrival, Dalot struggled to adjust to English football and failed to convince Mourinho’s successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he was worthy of a regular place in his starting line-up.
The full-back was subsequently shipped off to AC Milan on a season-long loan last summer.
Dalot, however, has impressed in Italy – with speculation growing that the player could extend his stay to a permanent one.
According to Calciomercato, United do not see a way back for Dalot in Manchester and are open to a sale.
To that end, Solskjaer is already looking at bringing in a new right-back to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Italian outlet states that Norwich star Max Aarons and Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier are the two names in the frame to replace Dalot.
It is also claimed that if Milan cannot do a deal for Dalot then Spanish outfit Sevilla will step in.
The figure being banded around for a permanent sale is around £17m. That is £2m less than United paid Porto for his services just under three years ago.
United battle for Real stalwart
Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs to have been linked with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The centre-back is out of contract in 2022, leaving the La Liga giants in a delicate situation. There are fears he could walk away for free.
Varane remains a key player at the Bernabeu, having played more games for Madrid than any other outfield player so far this season.
However, according to Marca, his intentions may be to leave the club. Varane could run his contract down rather than agree an extension.
If Madrid learn that is what he plans to do, they will try to sell him in the summer. The chance to sign one of the world’s best defenders will have several clubs on alert.
The Spanish source lists Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus and PSG as the main suitors for Varane.
Both United and Chelsea have been linked with the Frenchman for some time. Rumours of their interest resurfaced in November last year.
Now, those links may accelerate further. Both clubs are on the lookout for new defenders, and Varane would be a prime option. Read more…
