Two swap routes emerge for Tottenham outcast with negotiations underway
Tanguy Ndombele has seemingly been presented with two solutions to leave Tottenham Hotspur, each of which may see the club sign someone else in return.
Ndombele is Tottenham’s all-time record signing after a £55m transfer from Lyon in 2019. Unfortunately, his time in north London has not gone to plan due to inconsistency. While he began to rediscover some better form last season, he has failed to nail down a regular place.
In fact, new boss Nuno Espirito Santo has cast him aside altogether. Despite being fit, Ndombele was not considered for selection in any pre-season friendlies. He has since failed to make a matchday squad for either of Tottenham’s two competitive matches so far.
Amidst this situation, reports have emerged revealing that Ndombele has asked to leave the club. He is under contract until 2025, but is already eyeing a future elsewhere. But there have been doubts about the chances of Tottenham recouping a decent sum for his sale.
The solution may come by way of a swap deal – for which there are two possibilities.
First, Tuttosport have claimed that Spurs are discussing a potential exchange deal with Juventus between Ndombele and Weston McKennie.
McKennie joined Juventus from Schalke last summer and made a positive initial impression. However, he does not feature as prominently in the plans of recently returned coach Max Allegri.
Therefore, the Serie A giants will sell him for the right price and a move to the Premier League has been speculated.
Tottenham could thus be the ones to benefit, with the Turin-based paper indicating that managing director Fabio Paratici is willing to negotiate the deal with his former club.
In fact, Paratici has supposedly already proposed Ndombele to his old club in return for McKennie. Juventus were one of the clubs Spurs beat to the signing of Ndombele originally. Therefore, an interest may remain.
Spurs would try to get some cash on top of McKennie’s signature to sanction such a swap deal.

Bayern propose Ndombele deal
But it is not the only exchange they are being tipped to orchestrate in order to offload Ndombele. According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich would be interested in a similar deal involving one of their own midfielders.
The report claims Bayern have already made an offer of €20m plus Corentin Tolisso to Tottenham in return for Ndombele.
Tolisso is in the final year of his contract in Munich and Bayern may sell him this summer. A World Cup winner three years ago, he has struggled with injury issues ever since.
The Frenchman, also a former Lyon player, played 16 times in the Bundesliga last season. Despite his talent, it seems Bayern are ready for him to move on.
But Tottenham have rejected their opening offer of Tolisso plus cash for Ndombele. It is as yet unclear if the negotiations will continue.
