Unai Emery wants more from Arsenal’s new signings and says he is looking for more balance between his side’s attacking and defending.
In an interview by Arsenal TV the Spaniard admitted that an ideal world he would like his new recruits to be more settled.
Winger Nicolas Pepe arrived for £72m from French side Lille in the summer, while Dani Ceballos, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz and young forward Gabriel Martinelli were also added to the squad.
Martinelli has only featured for six minutes, while former Celtc defender Tierney is still recovering from a double hernia op, but Pepe, Luiz and Ceballos have had plenty of game time and have seen mixed performances for the Gunners.
With seven points from four games, Emery was asked where Arsenal can improve.
“First we need to improve the adaptation of the different players who have come here in the last moments,” Emery told the official Arsenal website.
Emery also detailed how his side, whose only defeat so far was the 3-1 loss at Liverpool, must find a balance between his attacking philosophy and defending.
The Gunners coach has been criticised for using a diamond in the defeat at Anfield, but he says the most important thing is to play with energy.
“Also we need to improve in our way. For example, I think we can continue being very offensive with a lot of important offensive players,” added Emery.
“We also want to take the balance defensively to be strong and I think the first four matches allowed us to show our first characteristic – to be be offensive.
“Maybe we need to continue working to create a balance defensively in some moments and also tactically when making some decisions.
“But really the most important thing is how we can show our support and our energy, our spirit.
“We want to win each match but also to show them our speed, our energy playing with intensity.
“I think we are working to do that in our way, in our target of giving them a big characteristic for us. We want to play with energy.”
