Pep Guardiola: Will give youth a chance

Manchester United have denied a report that club officials met with Pep Guardiola in Paris last week.

The claim was made by French broadcast journalist Thierry Marchand on television show L’Equipe du Soir, with the Bayern Munich coach said to have joined senior United officials at the Hotel Bristol last Thursday.

But United moved quickly to deny the report on Thursday evening.

Guardiola is heading to the Premier League next season after revealing he will not be extending his Bayern contract beyond the end of the current campaign.Manchester City is said to be his most likely destination, with previous reports suggesting United officials are already aware that a deal is in place between the former Barcelona coach and their cross-town rivals.

Doubts remain over Louis van Gaal’s future, with reports this week claiming that the Dutch coach could be prepared to leave Old Trafford a year earlier than planned. Jose Mourinho is the bookmakers’ favourite to take over, while Ryan Giggs is also heavily in the frame.
