United’s €90m Morata move set to rumble on into next week

Alvaro Morata’s proposed move to Manchester United will rumble on into another week with the striker preparing to get married this weekend.

The Real Madrid striker is already in Venice as he prepares to get married to Italian model Alice Campello on Saturday and therefore any deal is very unlikely to go through until after the weekend.

The two clubs have yet to agree a fee, while the player will have to pass a medical at Carrington before the deal can be announced.

Madrid are insisting on a fee of €90million for the Spain striker and are not believed to be in any rush to offload the 24-year-old.

Cadena Ser’s El Larguero show yesterday reported agreement between both clubs and the player is “very close”.

United are believed to have offered the 24-year-old a four or five-year contract to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was not offered a new deal after injuring his cruciate knee injury.

The player’s agent Juanma Lopez met with Bernabeu officials in the Spanish capital on Wednesday to try and thrash out a deal for the player, but Madrid will not lower their asking price for the former Juventus man.

Reports last week claimed Mourinho’s side had lodged an opening offer of £52.4million, which was rejected before they submitted a second bid of around £60million.

Real president Florentino Perez remains unmoved though, especially as he also expect to see James Rodriguez depart this summer, and the ball is firmly in the court of United.
