Valencia are close to signing Celta Vigo and Uruguay striker Maxi Gomez, according to Marca.
The Spanish outlet report that Gomez will move to the Mestalla for £14million with Los Ches pair Santi Mina and Jorge Saenz heading the other way.
West Ham though, who have been credited with an interest for a while, are trying to hijack the move, according to Sky Italia.
Last month Mundo Deportivo claimed West Ham were ready to send representatives to Spain to try and broker a joint €60million swoop on Celta for Gomez and Stanislav Lobotka and with Marko Arnautovic set to leave for China their need could be greater.
Lopez, who saw a move to West Ham collapse in January, has also been linked with Spurs and Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp understood to be a fan of the 22-year-old.
El Gol Digital claimed in May that both Premier League clubs were intent on meeting the €50million release clause of the striker, who is under contract until 2022.
Luis Suarez is also reported to have recommended Gomez, who name-checked the Reds in May, to Klopp and Liverpool.
