The club, which has only two registered players and will play in League Two next season after back-to-back relegations, invited fans to watch potential players when it hosted its first team trials at Huish Park at the weekend.

Manager Paul Sturrock decided to ask the fans to vote on which of the players they favoured as he seeks to build a new side.

“The fans are the Yeovil Football Club; a lot of people forget that,” said Sturrock. “The fans are the key to the football club and the key to the standard of player that goes out onto that pitch.

“At the end of the day it’s going be interesting to see who the fans choose.”

More than 40 players without clubs or contracts were put through their paces at the trials at the weekend.

Fans are now being invited to vote on the club’s websites on which players they want Sturrock to sign – and he’s promised to take their views into account.
