Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to give Danny Ward a chance to become the club’s number one goalkeeper this summer.

There have been widespread reports that Klopp is eyeing a new first choice keeper amid insecurity surrounding whether Loris Karius is good enough.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claim Jurgen Klopp has made an offer for Alisson, just a few days after Loris Karius’ latest gaffe.

Liverpool are believed to have tabled a bid of £53m plus £5m in add ons to Roma for Alisson, but the report claims Roma are still holding out for more with Chelsea and Real Madrid also having an interest in him.

However, the Liverpool Echo claims that Klopp has been hugely impressed with Ward since the squad got back together to begin preseason preparations.

The 25-year-old Wales international has apparently “raised his levels at Melwood” in recent weeks, and he “could have forced his way into the box seat between the sticks” just ahead of the new season.
