Arsene Wenger: Impressed with the impact of Iwobi

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised the performance of Alex Iwobi after the youngster scored in their dominant 4-0 win over Watford in the Premier League.

The Gunners put in an emphatic performance at the Emirates Stadium and took the lead early on when Alexis Sanchez scored only his second league goal of 2016.

Iwobi added a second goal before Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott sealed a comprehensive 4-0 win for Wenger’s side.

And the Arsenal boss was full of praise for 19-year-old Iwobi, who has now scored two goals in as many starts in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, Wenger said: “I am very happy because it was a good performance. We scored goals and didn’t concede, and kept the game having a good flow even at 3-0 up.

“I am pleased with Alex Iwobi’s talent but even more with his attitude and his willingness to learn and to contribute with his teamwork.

“Our target is to play well in the next game. We have to be very pragmatic and realistic. This is a start, but we have to keep it going and focusing on the process, the quality of the game. But today’s result gives us a chance.”
