Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to ship out an under-performing duo this summer as he begins a squad overhaul, a report claims.

According to the London Evening Standard, Wenger is willing to let both defender Shkodran Mustafi and midfielder Granit Xhaka leave in the upcoming transfer window.

The duo have not lived up to expectations since their arrivals from Valencia and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively, and the Arsenal boss is running out of patience.

They go on to claim that the Gunners already have their replacements in mind: James Maddison from Norwich and Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks.

Fredericks would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season as his contract expires, but Maddison is expected to cost suitors up to £30m.
