West Brom join race for in-demand Liverpool defender
Mamadou Sakho: In demand
West Brom and Crystal Palace will go head-to-head to land Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho this summer, according to reports.
The French defender joined Palace on loan in January after being frozen out of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield.
The 26-year-old has been part of the reason that the South London club has had a revival under Sam Allardyce.
Sakho has won five of his six Premier League games, keeping four clean sheets in the process, and is now in demand.
Allardyce is keep to bring him to Selhurst Park on a permanent deal, but according to The Sun he faces competition from West Brom.
However, Sakho insisted earlier in the week he would be ‘happy’ to play for Liverpool again next season.
“I still have a contract for three more years. If I were to wear the Liverpool jersey again, I would be happy to do so,” said the former PSG man.
“It is up to the boss. He makes the decisions and I can only accept that. And we will see what happens if my future is elsewhere.”
