West Brom knock back Burnley £16m bid for star striker

West Brom have rejected a £16m bid from Burnley for Jay Rodriguez, according to the Press Association Sport.

The offer was immediately dismissed by the Baggies and it falls short of their valuation of the striker, which is at least £20m.

They had already turned down a joint £25m offer for Rodriguez and Craig Dawson earlier in the summer.

Rodriguez initially left Turf Moor for Southampton in 2012 in a deal worth around £7m and joined Albion last summer for £12m.

He scored 11 goals in all competitions but could not keep the Baggies in the Premier League.

Albion do not want to sell the England international as they plot an instant return to the top flight, starting against Bolton on Saturday.
