Jay Rodriguez: Fired Saints ahead

West Brom have reportedly contacted Southampton to see if they’d consider the sale of forward Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez joined Southampton from Burnley in 2012, but missed the entire 2014/15 season after rupturing his knee ligaments and started just three times in the following campaign.

Last season the 27 year-old scored five Premier League goals in 24 starts, failing to make himself a regular under Claude Puel, who has now left the club.

It is believed Saints value the striker at around £12m, and Sky Sports claim Baggies boss Tony Pulis is keen on taking him to the Hawthorns to provide an alternative to Salomon Rondon.

Albion were taken over by Chinese investors last summer and Pulis will be keen to strengthen his squad in order to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish.

Rodriguez has one full England cap to his name, playing against Chile at Wembley stadium in November 2013.
