Okay Yokuslu

West Brom are closing in on the signing of Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu, according to various reports.

Yokuslu emerged as a target for West Brom earlier this month, as Sam Allardyce searches for reinforcements who could help keep them up.

That seems a tough ask at the moment, but help could soon be on its way. A deal for Yokuslu is now close.

According to RMC Sport, Celta Vigo have accepted an offer from West Brom for the 26-year-old. However, the player still needs to be convinced.

An outlet local to the Spanish club, Faro De Vigo, also claim that Celta are happy to let Yokuslu move to the Hawthorns on loan.

The Turkey international has fallen down the pecking order at his current side. He has made just three starts in La Liga so far this season.

The report from Faro De Vigo also clarified that if the deal does go through, there will be no option to buy.

That is contrary to what RMC Sport have claimed, with the French outlet instead suggesting that there will be an obligation to buy for €5m if West Brom stay up.

West Brom need defensive reinforcements

The midfielder, who can also play in defence, is still under contract until 2023. However, a change of scenery would seemingly benefit him in the short-term.

He made 50 starts in La Liga across the previous two campaigns. But with those numbers dropping significantly this term, he needs to find a new home.

West Brom are hoping he could provide them with an extra element in their battle to avoid the drop. They are currently in 19th place and seven points from safety.

Having comfortably conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season, the Baggies know they need defensive-minded players to help them. Yokuslu could fit the bill if they manage to convince him.
