West Brom have identified Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu as a fix to their recent alarming drop in form, according to reports.

The Baggies have been busy in the transfer window over the past few days, with the loan signing of Callum Robinson on loan from Sheffield United followed by the agreement of a fee with Hull City for Kamil Grosicki, in a deal worth around £800,000.

Manager Slaven Bilic has made it his priority to bolster his attacking options following a run of seven games without a win, which has seen his side drop to second place in the Championship.

It is claimed that the Croatian boss hopes that Ghana international Atsu will be the solution that can help his side secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Atsu has featured 22 times in all competitions so far this season for Newcastle, but 16 of those appearances have come from the bench, so the North East club could consider allowing a loan move for the second half of the season.

The forward has a lot of experience playing in the top flight, previously featuring for Chelsea and Everton, which is something the Baggies boss will be looking for in their bid to reach the top flight.

Atsu joined Newcastle permanently in 2017 following a successful loan spell at Chelsea and will provide welcome versatility to the Baggies as he can play on either wing.

It remains to be seen whether the Magpies will allow the winger leave on loan as a succession of injuries have left Steve Bruce’s side with a depleted squad.

The Baggies may be able to push for the move, though, if Atsu wants the promise regular first-team football.
