West Ham complete the signing of €8m Swiss marksman

Albian Ajeti

West Ham have secured the services of Switzerland international striker Albian Ajeti from Basel for €8 million.

The 22-year-old plundered 14 goals and 8 assists in the Swiss Super League last year, and will link up with fellow new signing Sebastien Haller in the Hammers’ attack.

Reinforcements in the forward positions were a key requirement for manager Manuel Pellegrini after a host of departures including Lucas Perez, Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic.

Ajeti is the Hammers’ sixth signing, following the arrivals of Haller, midfielder Pablo Fornals, defender Goncalo Cardosa and goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin.

The contract length is reported to be four years long running until the summer of 2023, with the striker jubilant about his decision to join the London club, saying: “I didn’t have to think twice about signing for such a big, traditional club in the Premier League,”

The signing was greeted with a welcome video on West Ham’s official twitter account.
