David Moyes, Declan Rice West Ham

West Ham are preparing a new contract for Declan Rice that will see him double his salary to £120,000 a week, claims a report.

The Sun suggest that the club are “working on a deal” that will see Rice tied down to a new contract.

The Hammers are well aware of the interest from Chelsea in the England man.

Privately Frank Lampard is understood to be keen on Rice and looked at switching the midfielder into a defender. The Blues though are not believed to have lodged a formal offer for the England man.

West Ham’s £80m valuation is understood to have put off the men from Stamford Bridge.

And Publicly Lampard has swerved the talk.

In June at a press conference he brushed off any interest in the player.

“Declan Rice is a good player, you’re right, and I’ve known Declan Rice for a long time, as he was in the Chelsea academy, but there’s no talk,” said Lampard.

Now West Ham’s owners David Sullivan and David Gold know they must up the ante for Rice, who penned a new deal in December 2018.

His current deal runs until 2023-24. It raised his pay from £3,000 a week to £60,000 a week and now the Hammers are looking at a 100% raise.

That would take him to the top of the club’s pay scale and above Andriy Yarmolenko’s £100,000-a-week deal.

It would also protect the value of Rice, who will be looking to play for England at next summer’s Euros.

Antonio Rudiger

The 21-year-old left Chelsea’s academy for the Hammers at the age of 14 and has not looked back. Indeed he has become an established first-team regular both at West Ham and for England.

The Transfer Window Podcast claimed the Stamford Bridge outfit offered up German stopper Antonio Rudiger and England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a bid to lure Rice.

Rudiger was keen to move after losing his place. In fact, sources told TEAMtalk that the defender refused to play against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup recently.

Loftus-Cheek has struggled to find a place in Lampard’s starting XI and left for Fulham on loan on deadline day.
