West Ham, Everton in battle to resolve ‘chaos’ facing outspoken midfield target

West Ham United and Everton are the two Premier League clubs currently tipped to end the “chaos” Aaron Ramsey is finding himself in at Juventus.

Things have not gone to plan for Ramsey since his departure from Arsenal as a free agent in 2019. He opted for a new challenge in Serie A but has struggled to fit in there. Juventus are now looking to offload him due to his unsustainable wages.

Relations between player and club took another dent when Ramsey appeared to criticise the training methods at Juventus in comparison to when he is on international duty with Wales – for whom he scored against Czech Republic on Friday.

The ideal solution for the Wales international would seemingly be to return to the Premier League. A number of clubs have been tipped to take him back to the country in which he built his reputation.

West Ham and Everton have been among his suitors for a while, although neither acted in the summer. Ramsey’s wages may be too expensive for them, unless he is willing to drop his demands in favour of getting his playing career back on track.

A few other clubs have been linked, but it is the Premier League pair who are mentioned as the main contenders for his signature in the latest update from Calciomercato.

Describing the situation between Ramsey and Juventus as “chaos”, the Italian outlet explores what the best solution may be for the midfielder. He is apparently pushing for a return to England after his plan to impress new coach Max Allegri showed little sign of working.

Therefore, it is a priority task for Juventus to offload Ramsey – and his €7m salary – in January. The report confirms interest from West Ham and Everton.

However, neither have progressed past the stage of carrying out “surveys” yet. There is clearly more progress to be made before they can consider a January transfer as likely.

Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are all reportedly chasing Aaron Ramsey, with more news on Dejan Kusulevski and Matthijs de Ligt.

West Ham will be looking for more squad depth should they progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League. Adding a player of Ramsey’s experience and calibre would be helpful.

Everton, meanwhile, are still replenishing their ranks in that position after the recent exit of the more attack-minded James Rodriguez. There has been speculation of a swap between Ramsey and current Toffees midfielder Allan.

Ramsey will have to pick his next step carefully as he approaches the twilight of his career. Turning 31 before January, he will not want to spend much longer as a bench player and will be keen to make the most of the years he has left.

West Ham want two other Juventus players

In addition to Ramsey, West Ham have recently been tipped to take two other players from Juventus.

Reports this week have reminded of their interest in another Juve midfielder, Weston McKennie. The USMNT star enjoyed a decent debut season in Turin but is falling out of favour under Allegri.

He could be on the move in the winter, potentially to the Premier League, where West Ham could battle the likes of Tottenham for his services.

Also, there have been claims that West Ham’s interest in full-back Luca Pellegrini remains.

They tried to sign him in the summer to strengthen the left-hand side of their defence. However, Pellegrini remained at the Allianz Stadium, where he is yet to make much of an impression.

The Hammers could try again for his services in future if his situation does not improve.
