West Ham hold positive talks to land £14m midfielder before Euros

Alex Kral (l) training with Slavia TEAMtalk

West Ham have reportedly held extensive talks with the entourage of midfielder Alex Kral as they look to snap up the Czech Republic international this summer.

The Hammers want to build on a strength, as they look to add additional cover for outstanding midfield duo both Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek respectively. And Kral is keen to follow his international teammates Soucek and Vladimir Coufal to the London Stadium.

Kral came through the ranks at Teplice before also joining Slavia Prague. He signed for Spartak Moscow after just eight months at Slavia and is now a regular for his country.

And the player’s agent has revealed his client has been in England this week for talks with the Hammers hierarchy.

“I can confirm that we were in England, where we had more talks about Alex,” Krol Kisel told Idnes, as cited by the Daily Express.

“Everything will be decided by the Euros, during the transition period.

“Now the boys need peace of mind in their national team.”

Kral not a Rice replacement

West Ham are set to pay £14million for defensive midfielder, although he is not considered a replacement for Rice.

The Hammers are expecting big offers for the England man again this summer, despite insisting he is going nowhere.

Youri Tielemans may be on his way from Leicester to Liverpool, while Ozan Kabak could go the other way and Antonio Conte's departure from Inter Milan has set tongues wagging.

As for Kral, he is not the only Czech star on West Ham’s radar. Slavia forward Jan Kuchta has also been linked with a switch to the London Stadium.

The attacker hit 14 league goals this season and has been closely watched by Hammers scouts.

David Moyes is still on the lookout for a new forward, having failed to replace Sebastien Haller in the January window.
