West Ham, Leeds on alert as target with Prem dream rips up contract

Matthew Bondswell is keen to secure a Premier League move after terminating his contract with RB Leipzig, a report claims.

Bondswell had been in Germany since 2018, when he joined Leipzig’s academy from Nottingham Forest.

He has never made a senior appearance for Die Roten Bullen, though, and spent the first half of this season out on loan in the Netherlands with FC Dordrecht.

Making seven appearances for the Dutch second-tier side, Bondswell has begun to step into senior football. His chances of making it back at Leipzig, though, seemed unlikely.

Therefore, he has ended his contract with them, according to Football Insider – who add that he would now like to return to England.

Bondswell is known to be a target for Leeds and West Ham. The latter held talks with him in January, but could not complete a deal.

Now, the left-back is in discussions with a number of Premier League clubs again. The report adds that Chelsea have joined the race to sign him.

Meanwhile, Sporting CP would be interested in taking him to Portugal. However, Bondswell’s preference is to return to England.

Hence, the 18-year-old is ready to hold talks with his suitors in the Premier League. It is not yet clear who is leading the race.

Reports recently suggested they are interested in Milan-owned midfielder Tommaso Pobega.

Currently impressing on loan with Spezia, the Italian has now emerged as a potential target for the West Yorkshire side.

However, there is also interest from another Premier League team.
