West Ham are looking to take advantage of Sami Khedira’s desire to leave Juventus for London, according to reports in Italy.
The former World Cup winner with Germany has seen him gametime decrease in Turin, having had to undergo two knee operations in the past two seasons.
One year remains on Khedira’s contract, although Juventus have the option to extend that by a further year – although they are more likely to go the opposite way and come to a mutual agreement to prematurely end his deal this summer.
According to Calciomercato, the midfielder would like to move to London, because his girlfriend, Melanie Leupolz, has agreed to join Chelsea Women for the 2020-21 season.
West Ham are said to be monitoring the situation, with their midfield potentially being depleted if Declan Rice is snapped up by a bigger club in the summer.
England international Rice is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, so West Ham would need a reinforcement were he to make way – and Khedira has the experience they would need.
The 33-year-old had been linked with Arsenal last summer before opting to stay with Juventus, although despite their London home as well, nothing is mentioned of a potential revival of interest.
