West Ham star joins Alaves; defender tipped to move in opposite direction

Lucas Perez TEAMtalk

Alaves have completed the signing of Lucas Perez from West Ham on a three-year deal, while a LaLiga star could be moving in the opposite direction.

The 30-year-old started just four Premier League games for the Hammers last season, having failed to settle since his €4.4m switch from Arsenal last summer.

Perez joined the Gunners for £20m from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2016 and scored seven goals in 21 appearances in his debut campaign before falling out of favour with Arsene Wenger.

He returned to the Galician side on a season-long loan deal in 2017/18 but found the net just eight times in 35 LaLiga appearances as Depor were relegated.

Having joined the Hammers, Perez struggled to oust Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez and also had to play second fiddle to injured-plagued hitman Andy Carroll.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen on bringing in Alaves central defender Guillermo Maripan in a deal which is totally separate.
