Reece Oxford will cut short his loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach and return to West Ham in December, according to a report.

ESPN claim Oxford, 18, who moved to the Bundesliga club in the summer on a season-long loan, will return to West Ham on his 19th birthday – December 16.

The player and both clubs have apparently agreed to terminate the loan deal, with the teenager returning to the London Stadium after just six months.

The report claims “both Oxford and West Ham have grown frustrated by Monchengladbach’s failure to give him an opportunity”.

The England under-20 international has yet to make an appearance for Monchengladbach, remaining on the bench for six successive league games.

Due to FIFA regulations mean Oxford would be unable to play for West Ham until January.

Oxford made only five appearances for Reading at centre-back, while on loan there from February last season.
