Pundit says exciting £70m Liverpool target has ‘every attribute’

Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez TEAMtalk

Noel Whelan says Liverpool would be signing a player with “every attribute”as Adama Traore continues to be linked with a move to Anfield.

The Wolves winger has developed into one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League and numerous sources have claimed Jurgen Klopp is chasing the former Barcelona man.

According to Football Insider, Wolves in April set the asking price at £70m to ward off Liverpool – a price tag that is nearly four times what they paid Middlesbrough for him in 2018.

The outlet still claim Liverpool are in pole position to sign Traore, despite Klopp pulling out of a £50m move for Timo Werner due to financial concerns in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sun have also reported that Klopp is keen on Traore and Nuno Espirito Santo failed to ease those concerns at Tuesday’s press conference.

The Wolves boss admitted he was unsure about the winger’s future: “I don’t know. He is here now and he has trained well today and he is ready to go tomorrow.

“It is day by day, no speculation, and just focus on what we have to do and prepare for Bournemouth.”

Whelan though believes Traore has improved hugely and has no doubt about the 24-year-old’s quality.

“He has come on so much this season under Nuno (Santo),” former Leeds striker Whelan told Football Insider. “A player there that a lot of clubs want.

“He has every attribute now – end product, speed and intelligence.

“He put in a quality ball for (Raul) Jimenez (against West Ham). What a fantastic cross that was, bending away from the goalkeeper – a striker’s delight.

“For the second one he showed quick feet as well as his power and agility that you need. Again, picking the right pass.

“He has become a high commodity player for Wolves whether he starts or comes of the bench.

“Traore is one of the main reasons Wolves have done so well this season.”
