Liverpool star’s agent brings big new club to table over summer exit talks

The agent of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has offered Bayern Munich the chance to sign his client this summer.

The Netherlands international appears to be moving ever closer to an exit from Anfield. He is into the final two months of his contract, but the Reds have made no concrete moves over an extension. For his part, meanwhile, Wijnaldum has previously stressed that he has “no news” over his plans.

Talk over the midfielder’s future was rife earlier in the campaign, but speculation has since died down a little.

Indeed, his agent is already thinking about finding Wijnaldum a new club on a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has previously outlined his admiration for his fellow Dutchman. However, Humphry Nijman has publicly asked Bayern to make their feelings known over the player.

The intermediary told Sport1: “Wijnaldum is a free transfer and keeps all options open.

“FC Bayern is a great club. If you are interested in him, please feel free to speak to us.”

Liverpool and Bayern did business last summer, with Thiago Alcantara swapping Germany for England in a £20million deal.

Georginio Wijnaldum: No news on Liverpool future

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum says he has 'no news' on his future at the club with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

However, the Bundesliga giants are yet again facing a period of transition after Niko Kovac’s exit last season.

Kovac’s replacement, Hansi Flick, is stepping down, with RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann taking the reins from next season.

Nevertheless, the German side have already begun their summer shopping, with Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano making the move across the country.

Liverpool, meanwhile, also face a crucial summer transfer window. Manager Jurgen Klopp has faced calls to refresh his team with a new centre-back and a new attacker.

As well as Wijnaldum, though, speculation has arisen about the future of fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Elsewhere, reports claim that Klopp is planning talks with attacker Takumi Minamino.

The Japan international joined Southampton on loan in January after struggling for game time with the Reds.

This summer, though, Minamino is set to take part in his home country’s Olympic Games.
