Movie funnyman Will Ferrell, who is part-owner of the MLS’ latest club Los Angeles Football Club, wants them to sign Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.

The Anchorman and Zoolander star is joined by Cardiff City chairman Vincent Tan and basketball legend Magic Johnson, amongst others, in having a stake in LAFC.

At the official launch of the club he stated: “This is not a joke. I’m actually a member of this fine ownership group. I’ve never been part-owner of anything, though I’m still part-owner of an ’84 Toyota Camry with my brother,” he said.

The 49-year-old was a guest on ESPN recently and when he was asked about the prospects of signing Bayer Leverkusen hitman ‘Chicharito’, he begged: “Please come play for LAFC…whenever you want to. You don’t even have to play every game. I beg you – I’m not going to pay you – but I’ll make it worth your while.”
