Wilshere makes Arsenal decision after crushing Emery verdict

Jack Wilshere has reportedly decided to leave Arsenal on a free transfer this summer amid claims Unai Emery has told the player he won’t be a key figure in his plans.

The midfielder has been at Arsenal since the age of nine, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the month, his time at the club looks set to come to a heartbreaking close.

Wilshere has been offered a new deal by the club, but the £100,000 a week on offer represents a 20% reduction by the club. But despite being told the contract would not be raised, the player was still giving serious consideration to signing, given his love and affection for Arsenal.

However, the player admitted last month that Arsene Wenger’s departure as manager could change the landscape – and the Sunday Mirror claims in an exclusive that his successor Unai Emery has told the player he will only be a fringe player, and not a regular starter, under his tenure.

And the paper reckons that will force the player into accepting the time is right to move on – with West Ham, Wolves and Everton all having offers on the table to sign him. There is also interest from abroad, with Sampdoria, AC Milan and Juventus all believed to be keen.

However, it’s widely reported the 26-year-old will accept an offer to join West Ham, given they have reportedly offered him a package worth £130,000 a week and he won’t have to uproot his young family.

Either way, it seems Wilshere’s 17-year association with Arsenal could be set to come to an end in a matter of days, with the paper reporting an announcement on his next club is imminent.
