Wolves misfit Cutrone outlines future plans; has Nuno’s blessing

Wolves flop Patrick Cutrone admits he would love to remain at Spanish club Valencia beyond the terms of his current loan deal.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to Los Che in January despite a shortage of strikers at Molineux. Star man Raul Jimenez may not play again this season after suffering a fractured skull in November.

Cutrone moved to the West Midlands from AC Milan in the summer of 2019. But after a poor first half of the 2019-2020 campaign, he penned an 18-month loan deal with Fiorentina.

Things did not get much better in Italy as he bagged just five goals from 34 appearances in all competitions. However, Nuno Espirito Santo decided to recall him to Wolves last month to cover for Jimenez.

The Italy international played just 23 minutes of Premier League football in January before he was jettisoned to the Mestalla. He made his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao on February 7.

And he is now hoping for more action after a seamless transition to the club.

“They’ve really welcomed me,” he told Diario AS (via Football Espana). “I’ve found a strong and united group with many high-quality players. “This week I had a slight physical problem, but it only lasted one day. I hope to play against Madrid.”

And the man from Como confessed that his focus is now on impressing enough to land a permanent deal.

“It’s my goal [to stay at Valencia]. I want to do well on the pitch to be able to stay, that’s what I want. As soon as I heard about their interest, I said yes,” he added. “Nuno also spoke to me about how great the club is, and I know the importance of Valencia. I’ll give everything to stay here.”

Game time key to kick-start career

With just three league starts in his first spell with Wolves, it is clear he is not in Nuno’s plans. He failed to complete a single league match for the club but refused to criticise his parent club.

The task now for the youngster is to prove Wolves were wrong to let him go.

“The most important thing for a forward is to have continuity on the pitch, and for the last two years, much to my regret, I haven’t had it,” he continued. “Luckily I’m young and I can improve a lot. I know that the real Cutrone is the one who scored 18 goals for Milan, and I’m going to prove it.”
