Paul Lambert: Set sights on sixth next season

Wolves are set to confirm the departure of manager Paul Lambert before the end of this month, TEAMtalk understands.

Lambert was appointed in November, but the club’s Chinese owners Fosun International have big plans and they feel they need a bigger name than the Scotsman to progress.

And we understand that Lambert is fully aware of the situation and is expecting to leave.

Wolves have been looking at former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka and also Sheffield Wednesday’s Carlos Carvahal – but they are looking at some bigger names in Europe.

One of those is believed to be Fiorentina’s Paulo Sousa. The former Swansea City boss has a very good reputation in England and has done well in Serie A – but Wolves could offer him a big pay rise and a huge transfer kitty to try and get them into the Premier League.
