Wolves are looking at AC Milan full-back Ignazio Abate as they look to strengthen their defence, according to report in Italy.

The newly-promoted Premier League side have switched their attention to Abate after missing out on Joao Cancelo, who has set his heart on a move to Juventus.

Abate, 31, is a former Italy international, having represented them at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.

The attacking full-back has spent the majority of his career at Milan, but could be set to move on from San Siro this summer according to Gazza Mercato, as the club also have Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria in his position.

However, Conti is returning from a serious injury, which may put Abate’s departure on hold for a while.

Abate, who is entering the final year of his contract, has also been linked with LA Galaxy – where he would team up with friend and former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Wolves have also been linked with a move for another Milan player, striker Andre Silva.
