Wolves warn off Liverpool by setting huge price tag for attacking target

Wolves have set their asking price for Adama Traore amid reported interest from Liverpool, it is claimed.

Traore has been one of the brightest sparks of Wolves’ impressive season, with the Barcelona academy product finally fulfilling his potential after showing signs of his true ability last year.

With the 24-year-old still yet to hit his prime, he is being linked with a range of bigger clubs, who have now found out how much they will have to pay to prise him away from Molineux.

According to Football Insider, Wolves have set the asking price at £70m to ward off Liverpool – a price tag that is nearly four times what they paid Middlesbrough for him in 2018.

Even that may not be enough, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could ask for as much as £90m for the former Aston Villa man.

The Spanish star is under contract until 2023, and with Wolves continuing to compete in the top half of the Premier League, it likely won’t be easy to persuade the Wanderers to let him go.

Traore has been tipped to replace Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane should either of Liverpool’s star wingers be tempted away from Anfield.

Mane has been linked with Real Madrid given his impressive form this season, which has put him in strong contention to be named Premier League Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, pundits have suggested that Liverpool will be able to sign an upgrade on Salah, despite the Egyptian closing in on 100 goals for the club.

Whether that replacement could be Traore remains to be seen, with the idea of a swoop for a Manchester City star suggested as an alternative.
