Wycombe v Morecambe preview

admin

Wycombe will be without centre-back Aaron Pierre against Morecambe as their list of absentees continues to grow.

Already without Aaron Holloway, Joe Jacobson, Matt McClure and Sido Jombati, boss Gareth Ainsworth saw Pierre pick up a red card and Matt Bloomfield, Nico Yennaris and Sam Saunders limp out of the 0-0 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Tom Fletcher looks set to step into the side for the banned Pierre and Ainsworth is not ruling out pulling on his boots for the first time since he retired last May to help ease their injury crisis.

The Chairboys boss will hope Bloomfield, Yennaris and Saunders can be patched up but he certainly will not be able to name an 18-man squad against the Shrimps.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley expects to be without defender Ryan Edwards.

The former Blackburn trainee missed the loss to promoted Burton on Saturday because of a back issue he picked up against York and there has now been some swelling spotted around discs in that area to exacerbate the problem.

Midfielder Aaron Wildig will be available, though, after extending his loan stay from Shrewsbury to allow him to feature in the final two fixtures.

Ryan Williams (hernia) remains out and goalkeeper Barry Roche, who returned to the bench against the Brewers following a long-term hip injury, may be held back as Bentley looks to ease him into action again.
