Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster on loan when the transfer window reopens in January.
Brewster has made two first-team appearances for the Reds this season, both of which have come in the Carabao Cup, and he scored from the spot in the penalty shootout win over Arsenal in midweek.
A report in Friday’s media claims that Palace feel the 19-year-old can challenge existing strikers Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham for a place in the Eagles starting line-up.
The report adds that Championship sides Swansea and Bristol City, as well as clubs in Germany, are also considering attempting to bring in Brewster on loan in the new year.
The England Under-21 international, who previously scored 20 goals in 23 games for his country at Under-17 level, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons but is now fully match fit and looking for more regular game time.
But with Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi ahead of him in the central striker pecking order at Anfield, it seems unlikely that Brewster will be given that many more opportunities to shine for the Reds this season.
The report adds that a loan spell would be hugely beneficial for Brewster’s development, although it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will sanction an exit.
