Your Says of the Day: Pochettino perfect for Manchester United

Mauricio Pochettino: Manager linked with United

Also, why Chelsea’s academy is doing a good job, who Tottenham should sign to support Harry Kane and a defence of Remi Garde.

If you have anything to add on any subject, you know what to do – post on the Your Say forum now.

Pochettino would command United respect

Pochettino would be given time at OT. Utd fans were willing to give LvG time, or at least I was. LvG has bought well generally I feel apart from the odd waste of money but the football he serves up plus now the lack of goals and results is the reason we want him out.

So long as he played attacking football the Utd faithful would give him time. I wouldn’t want him though because I want to see him finish his project at Spurs.

Chelsea academy no worse than others

For me, the academy will always serve 2 main purposes as it is abundantly clear that not all players will make the grade

So firstly it is to promote young players through the ranks so that they do progress to the first team squad which has the added benefit of not paying massive fees. As can be seen across the whole of the EPL, these players are few and far between when you consider how many academy players there must be, so it is NOT just Chelsea that has failed in ths department

So secondly, it is to raise funds through the majority of players who will not be considered good enough to play for Chelsea but may still be able to play for other clubs in England or abroad. A few million here and there for these type of players can then go towards the upkeep of the academy of into the transfer pot for the manager

Not sure what else anyone expects…? KTBFFH

Kane needs help at Tottenham

Austin wouldn’t be a bad shout to be honest but would he fit into our style of play? Who know’s but he would give us a different option up front.

Now this may seem a crazy idea but what about Sturridge? His injury record is appalling but maybe we could manage this better that Liverpool and he has has undoubted ability up font. An expensive risk but it could pay off.

Rumours are still floating about of an official Bid for Berardi with the Sassuolo manager quoted saying that be “must get used to change” regarding potential homesickness.

Any of those three would be a welcome addition in January, just not Berahino.

Cutting Garde some slack

I genuinely thought TS and Wilkins were the perfect managerial pairing to move us forward, youth and enthusiasm and a wise old head… sadly I was wrong. You hear snippets of information such as TS had very little say in the players brought in and the new French signings had very little grasp of the English language, if this is the case how could any manager succeed. But that’s the past as once again the axe fell and a new man is at the helm.
A Frenchman! so was Garde brought in because of the number of the French connection or was it because he was available at the right money or a mix of the 2? Either way he’s our manager and we have to show support, we were rock bottom when he arrived and although we haven’t moved up the table I believe the team is playing better and he has been unlucky thus far with mistakes and injury.

Regarding the substitutions against Wycombe I feel they were the correct decision. Sinclair was poor (again) and Gil was sacrificed because the pairing of Gana and Westwood is weak and the middle of the park needed strengthening so Veretout was dropping in.

Our midfield isn’t balanced, Sanchez can tackle but his passing is woeful, Westwood can pass but he’s lightweight, Gana and Veretout are young and inexperienced at this level. Gardner is injury prone and inexperienced, if you play Gil (our best midfielder) the middle of the park is too exposed which puts pressure on the defence and hinders our attacking play.

No matter which way I look at it we need 2 quality experienced central midfielders which would mean we could play GIL and Sinclair on the wings and 2 up top such as Ayew and Gestede i.e a 4-4-2.

Richards at RB and Cissokho at LB with Okore and Clark/Lescott in the centre.

Oh and I would give Bunn a run in the team as he commanded the area well on Saturday, something Guzan struggle to do!

We will struggle until reinforcements arrive!

Afobe not good enough for Bournemouth

I’ve always tried to make it a rule not to criticise players while the continue to pull on the Gold shirt. On the basis players can only get on the park if the Manager picks, so my criticism as always been for the Managers. We now reach the point where Afobe as gone, and in my opinion he isn’t top notch, he’s played for his transfer, can’t play with is back to goal which is a must at top level. We’ll see in the long term, but I believe he has reached his level, Bournemouth, he may well impress for them because he’ll be able to use his pace, but top teams face teams who defend deep, he hasn’t fought to hold up the ball for us, and unless he wasn’t trying I can’t see out that will change.

RIP David Bowie

That is sad news, loved Tin Machine (amongst many other records at all stages of his career!). Terrible actor mind you, but a bloody brilliant musician!
