Your Says of the Day: Rooney replacement; carry on, Karius

Wayne Rooney: Captain out of favour at Manchester United

The issue of who would replace Wayne Rooney is discussed, as is the debate over which Liverpool keeper should get the gloves against Man Utd…

Anything to get off your chest? Have Your Say

Rooney replacement

Who does replace Rooney in the side? Who is good enough to command a place in the squad? The argument most of us are making is that no player is getting enough of a run in the side to gain the sharpness to permanently oust Wayne. You say that Miki is a flop so far, he’s barely had enough time on the pitch to prove himself.

Even Ibra could drop into the 10 position, link play and allow Rashford to play up front instead of on the wing with Martial back on the wing. If the players got a few games to regain their sharpness and fitness, a luxury Rooney has been given, they might surprise more than one of us.

Also regarding Miki, he had a poor(ish) first season at Dortmund before setting the place alight, it takes time to acclimatise to a new league and club.

Loris Karius: Battling with Simon Mignolet for a start

Karius should stay in the sticks

IMO Karius stays in net. My reasoning is this:

Karius looked shaky? I’m not suprised. he’s just got here. but let’s not forget how shaky Mignolet looks after three years.

If we play Karius and he has a shocker, so what? He learns and we learn. Play Mig and he has a shocker. No one learns. We know Mig isn’t going to be here for much longer. We also know he’s been poor. I would rather us start to try and get used to our new keeper who is more confident on the ball than fall back to the mess we have had for two years.

Mig is terrible at coming for crosses so lets not kid ourselves here, hes not much of an upgrade from a nervous Karius.

Anyone remember how De Gea started until he got more games?

Neil Warnock: Takes charge at Cardiff

Warnock won’t stay away

What is it about Neil Warnock that keeps football clubs coming knocking on his door looking for him to get them out of a hole? He has resurfaced now at Cardiff and, whilst he did just OK with us and played too much hoof ball for my liking, I have no doubt that he will keep them up.

Rather them than with us I guess but you have to admire the durability.

Shkodran Mustafi: Talks up Arsenal's prospects

Mustafi making an impression

The difference he makes to the Arsenal team is we can play a higher line as he does have a chance to recover. Although he is not lightning quick he has some pace. Also both Koscielny and him are good one on one so he takes the shackles off of Bellerin as he does not have to worry so much about bombing forward. My only concern is set pieces against and playing Andy Caroll!
