Zidane in Odegaard agreement as Arsenal transfer hopes get clarity

Arsenal’s chances of securing Martin Odegaard to a permanent deal this summer have taken a backwards step amid claims the Norwegian has a clear career path in his mind.
The 22-year-old has found his feet with the Gunners in recent weeks. After scoring a scorcher against Olympiacos, he was then on target against Tottenham in the derby. Since then, Odegaard proved himself the key man as Arsenal fought back from 3-0 down to draw at West Ham. Excelling in the No 10 role, the Norwegian had a 93% pass completion rate and created four chances.
Odegaard’s display was comfortably his best in an Arsenal shirt and left Gunners fans clamouring for a permanent deal.
The Norwegian is only at Arsenal on loan for now. Their prospects of a deal took something of a backward step on Monday when it was revealed the huge exit clause that exists in his deal.
Odegaard, however, did raise hopes that he could be lured to Arsenal permanently. That’s after he spoke warmly about Arteta and also named the two things he needed to make the move long term.
However, according to Marca, Odegaard very much sees his long-term future at parent club Real Madrid. They claim the Norwegian only left after becoming frustrated at being unable to showcase his talents at the Bernabeu. He had struggled with a knee injury in the first half of the season and the loan to Arsenal is purely intended to allow him to return to full fitness.
The article claims Zinedine Zidane is very much in agreement with Odegaard’s aim, with the Frenchman feeling the loan has allowed Odegaard to regain his self confidence.

Arsenal: Will Martin Odegaard be like Dani Ceballos?
Arsenal fan and radio presenter Roman Kemp discusses Martin Odegaard's imminent move to the club and Mesut Ozil's departure to Fenerbahce.
In a final blow, Marca writes that Odegaard is ‘still determined’ to succeed with Los Blancos, while his club have ‘zero intention’ to sell.
In addition, they state Zidane and other powerful voices at the Bernabeu see Odegaard as ‘fundamental’ to their future.

Joshua King explains Odegaard influence
King has now explained why he always knew Odegaard would be suited to the Gunners. King, speaking to NRK, says he told the Real Madrid man ‘not to think twice’ once Arsenal’s interest became apparent.
“When I saw the rumour about Arsenal, I sent him a message and said: “You have to go to Arsenal”.
“He replied, “Are you sure? Are you sure?” – I was so sure. Arsenal’s style of play and Martin… I have friends who have played for Arsenal, and I know a little how the club is. In my head, I think it suited him well.”
