Zidane not planning summer move for De Gea

Zinedine Zidane: Not sure what role - if any - he'll have at Real Madrid next season

Zinedine Zidane is not thinking about a summer move for David de Gea or any other player as he is unsure what role he will have at Real Madrid.

Real have won nine, drawn two and lost only one of their 12 games since Zidane took over from Rafael Benitez in January, but the Frenchman is uncertain whether he will stay on as manager for next season.

“I can’t know what role I’m going to have if I don’t know if I’m going to be here. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season,” Zidane told Spanish newspaper Marca.

Asked whether he would consider another bid for De Gea, who Real tried to sign from Manchester United last summer, Zidane said: “I do not consider anything about the future because I do not know what is going to happen at the end of the season,” he said.

“All I can tell you is that I am very happy with the goalkeepers that I have, with Keylor [Navas], with Kiko [Casilla], who trains well and is a great professional, and with Ruben [Yanez] too.

“That’s the most important thing for me.”
